The FDA has classified this as a Class I recall, its most serious category. Affected sensors may cause serious injury or death if used. As of January 7, 2026, Abbott reported 860 serious injuries and 7 deaths.
Health Canada
Recall of the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus Sensor Kit (Model 78791-01). A subset of these sensors may give incorrect low glucose readings. Affected lot numbers: T60003522 and T60003216.
How to check your sensor (Abbott)
Enter the sensor's serial number at freestylecheck.com. If the sensor is affected, stop using it immediately, dispose of it, and request a free replacement through the website.
